Muralla del Albayzín – Nazari. The geography of the Landscape, the environment, the view and the walkthrough.
In front of the hill of the Alhambra and the Generalife, the Cerro San Miguel frames the last stretch Darro Valley. It is a landscape quite near and linked to the city, natural and wild at the same time, but residual space become almost marginal, which accumulated all kinds of trash and debris. It is also an area of transition to the new city, a city made of slightly touching townhouses amid the disorder remains incomplete, Fractured Nazari wall.
The concept of “solid” has been the guiding principle of this intervention. Collected in theories monuments restoration and intervention, this principle was used skillfully by Leopoldo Torres Balbás at the Alhambra in Granada, particularly in the north portico of the partial gardens, back in the twenties, and coming to summarize that when in a Cultural missing a part, it was rebuilt so that it is confined to a volumetric or geometric intervention to recover the original image of continuity, but devoid of anything that falls within the category of historical false (reconstruction). The reconstruction project anaxtilosis in us is impossible for the constructive nature of the factory, and has since disintegrated Factory calicastrado wall of mud, formed by sand and lime mortar.
The emptiness of Cerro San Miguel is a joint between two territories, one bare hill, full of time and history, linking the city to its geography.
